What is BerkeleyCorps?
BerkeleyCorps is a new initiative from the Office of Mayor Adena Ishii, serving as a hub of neighborhood organizing resources and volunteer opportunities for Berkeley residents. BerkeleyCorps strives to address local challenges through service. It was officially launched in January 2026 at our first mobilization event on MLK Day of Service.
Through this initiative, we, as a city, can work together to improve and preserve our neighborhoods. It will allow our Berkeley neighborhoods and communities to grow stronger together.
Why BerkeleyCorps?
One of Mayor Ishii’s core leadership values is building community. Through her conversations with Berkeley residents, she noticed a common concern: many people wish to get involved in serving the city but are not sure where to start.
BerkeleyCorps was created to address this need. It strives to make civic engagement more accessible by connecting community members with organizations in need of support and volunteers. In doing so, this volunteering hub will help everyone who is enthusiastic about getting involved to find and participate in meaningful work.
